Baby Footprint Ink
The birth of a new child is a joyous event, and one that parents
as well as grandparents will treasure for a lifetime. Creating keepsakes
from the baby’s footprint is an excellent way to ensure that
your baby’s birth will be remembered for a lifetime. This
is achieved through the use of ink and gift cards, or other creative
art projects. It is important to note that when working with ink
to create baby’s footprint that you should choose ink that
is non-toxic. Many parents often make the mistake of selecting ink
from their local office supply store to create birth announcements
and keepsake certificates.

Since any substance that is applied to baby’s skin may be
absorbed in his or her body, it is imperative that the ink selected
is one that is non-toxic as well as one that has been designed for
use on baby’s delicate skin. When choosing ink for creating
baby footprint keepsakes, be sure to select a product that is easy
to apply, quick to remove, and designated as safe for use on baby’s
skin. Also, try to make your birth announcements or baby keepsakes
as creative as possible. There are many more ink color choices available
rather than the standard black ink. Blue, pink, yellow, green, and
purple make wonderful footprints and can create original and beautiful
keepsakes.
Most parents prefer to create a baby footprint with ink when their
newborn is asleep. You can roll the non-toxic ink onto the baby’s
foot and then make the footprint. For making these types of footprint
keepsakes, you will find that the ink will clean up easily with
a bit of baby oil and a warm washcloth. There are many baby footprint
kits on the market today that use a barrier of thin film to prevent
the baby’s foot from ever coming in contact with the ink.
When you are selecting ink for your baby footprint keepsakes, keep
in mind that there are many more color choices to choose from then
the standard black ink commonly used with birth announcements and
other keepsakes. Pink, blue, yellow, purple, and green make wonderful
embellishments for any heirloom certificate or birth announcements.
You can create a beautiful scrapbook page with your choice of ink
as well. Depending upon the ink you choose, you can determine how
dark or light you would like the footprint to be. For darker, bolder
images, coat the foot 2 or 3 times with the ink. Take your selected
scrapbooking paper and press it up against your baby’s foot.
Let the footprint dry and then add your other decorations, stencils,
and lettering to the scrapbook page. This is a great way to add
a scrapbooking page to your memory book, or to simply add a baby
page to your photo album.
Another craft that you can make is to take one print of your child’s
foot when he or she is sleeping and then scan the image on your
computer. This is a great way to make one foot print, and then have
the image available for other projects. You can create birth announcements
and other crafts on your computer and print them. No matter which
project you choose, creating baby footprint keepsakes is a great
way to honor the birth of your new baby.
